Kaushik Roy

Vice President/Area Director, Asia Pacific

Kaushik Roy has spent close to four decades in the sphere of media and communication. Starting his career with JWT, in the Creative Department, he moved on to head profit centres, and worked in leadership positions with Clarion Advertising (now Bates) and Mudra Communications (DDB).

In his marketing avatar, he has worked as Head of Brand Strategy, South Asia with Philips and later with Reliance Infocomm as Head – Branding and Marketing Communication - where he was responsible for the launch of Reliance Mobile with the 'Karlo Duniya Mutthi Mein' campaign. Earlier in his career, he has been responsible for the Tata Steel “We also make steel” campaign and for the launch of Max Touch (now Vodafone).

Kaushik is currently President – Brand Strategy & Marketing Communication with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). In recent times, he has been responsible for the branding, and launch of Mumbai Indians – the leading IPL franchise, the ISL Football League, Reliance Foundation, Reliance Jio – the harbinger of a Digital India.

Kaushik has held important industry positions such as President of the Advertising Club Bombay, Executive Committee member of the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), Steering Committee Member – Ad Asia 2003, President of the International Advertising Association (IAA) – India Chapter. He has been unanimously elected as Area Director for IAA Asia Pacific for the 2016-2018 term.

Branching out from his regular day job, Kaushik has had several art exhibitions and has written and directed a critically-acclaimed feature film “Apna Asmaan” that bagged the prestigious Best Feature Film Award at the Stuttgart Film Festival, in 2007.

Kaushik is married to Nina and has two sons, Rajeev and Roshan.
